Daisy & Kara Rose Marshall
Hi Kara! Tell us a little about you…
Hi thanks so much for having me be a part of this beautiful campaign! Firstly, I’m a born and bred Yorkshire girl but I lived in London for ten years as a model. When I fell pregnant with my boy duke in 2019 I realised modelling wasn’t for me anymore, so I moved back up to Yorkshire and discovered my new roll of work, which is being an artist and rug maker.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Early mornings! I start my day from around 6am, wake up, have a cuppa tea and some cuddles and do the nursery run. Then I come home, put reverberation radio on and start designing. Luckily my lovely boyfriend Elliott has been able to get involved with my brand which is so fun. I try and make around 2 rugs a week it’s crazy hard work but so rewarding.
I collect Duke at 3pm and we always go driving around the little villages to see the local wild horses then come home for dinner, bath and bed. Once Duke’s down, I’m back to work either making candles or finishing a rug. I always try and fit in some down time or self care with either yoga or mediation to switch off from the day.
How did you start Tuftluckstudio? We’re obsessed!
It all fell into place super naturally to be honest. I’ve always been so amazed by it and for my birthday last year I asked to do a course at London Met studying Tufting. Then the Pandemic hit, and I only managed to do one class! I ended up teaching myself. I’ve always been obsessed with cowboys and western art like old tobacco adverts, so that’s where a lot of my inspiration comes from. The first rug I made was the bunny boy from my favourite movie “Gummo”. I was so nervous to share it on my Instagram, but it sold straight away to the lovely Jamie Hince, and since then it’s all just taken off super organically.
You live in Southcave in Yorkshire, tell us two hot spots you’d recommend when visiting?
Yes, it’s a little village between Hull and York. I much prefer this calmer life – there’s a place we like to go for walks called Little Woldly Lane where there’s beautiful natural springs and horses. There’s also an airfield I take Duke too to watch the planes land which he loved.
What’s on your bedside table?
My Le Labo and Cowboy Kush candles, Moody book I’m reading all about hormones and self-care and drunk elephant retinol cream.
Name some of the products in your beauty arsenal?

You have 5 minutes to get ready, what do you wear?

What’s the sure-fire tune for getting you on the dance floor?

We sent you a Nikon Z50 to shoot yourself at home. How was it stepping back in front of the lens after all this time?
Oh my god I loooooved using the camera. My partner Elliott took the photos for me and loved using it, such an easy camera to use so seeing how happy he was with the results made me feel at ease in front of it! I filmed the video parts myself (yes I felt silly talking to camera with no one else in the room) but it was super easy!!
