Behind The Words | Tamara Driessen

Meet cosmic queen and all round great gal, Tamara Driessen...

She’s the expert behind Daisy’s Zodiac Guide To Gifting and boy does she wear many hats! From Tarot reader and crystal healer to podcast host and author, we caught up with Tamara to find out more about her work and what a typical day looks like for our favourite Aries.

Hi Tamara! Would you like to introduce yourself?

Hi! I’m Tamara and I’m a modern mystic; I’m a Tarot reader, crystal healer, a moon guide, author of two books, Luna and The Crystal Code and host of Another Phase podcast.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I like to wake up naturally and I usually ease into the day with meditation, writing in my journal and then pulling a Tarot card. I’m also getting back into doing couch to 5k (inspired by Estée!!) at the moment. It’s all about the morning rituals for me because they help me stay grounded. I’m a big fan of batch working so no two days are the same; I block out days to work on projects, write, podcast, do Tarot readings for clients and host online events and workshops. I’m a bit of a night owl and I usually find that when I’m writing the words flow easier in the evening; which is one of the reasons why I don’t set an alarm clock for the morning. I’m really grateful that I get to work for myself so that I can design my days to support what feels good to me.

You wear many hats, talk us through what you do and how you came to do it?

I’ve always been interested in spirituality but I didn’t come out of the spiritual closet until I was 28 years old. I was working as a hairdresser and some life events led me to dive deeper into all things ‘woo-woo’ to help me heal myself. Back then, I would have never imagined that I’d be doing what I do now. I initially wanted to work as a healing practitioner, doing reiki and crystal healing, and reading the Tarot for people. I started hosting moon ceremonies and intuitive workshops and then I got my book deals. Nowadays, I’m usually either seeing clients on Zoom for Tarot readings, hosting online moon ceremonies and workshops or working on writing projects, recording my podcast or collaborating with brands in someway.

Which Sun, Moon & Rising sign are you? And which signs are you most compatible with?

I’m an Aries (sun), Aquarius (moon) and Libra (rising). I always seem to vibe with other Aries’ and people who are Aquarius and Libra - which are my moon and rising signs. I’m usually drawn to other fire signs, like Leo and Sagittarius and water signs, Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio. I’ve also noticed that interestingly my boyfriend and a couple of my closest friends have their moon in Taurus and I’ve got some other close friends that are Taurus so there’s a bit of a pattern there, too. All of that being said, I think my Libra rising helps me be compatible with nearly everyone.

Which crystals have you got at home?

As you might imagine, I’ve got a lot of crystals! There are quite a few different crystals in my bedroom, depending on which crystals I’m working with but my altar has got a giant piece of selenite, a zeolite cluster and some big chunks of rose quartz. I have more rose quartz in my bathroom, one piece in each corner of the bath to promote self-love and acceptance, and a selenite tea light holder for some ambient lighting and soothing energy when I’m having a bath; and I’ve got a crystal cluster in the living room to bring harmony to the home.

Who / what inspires you?

There are so many people that inspire me! Sophia Amoruso is currently a big inspiration for me - I’ve just started her Business Class course. Puno, Rebecca Munroe, Estée Lalonde and Jamie Genevieve are some other people that inspire me, too.

Can you tell us about any exciting projects you have coming up?

I’m just about to release my new audiobook which is called Affirmation. It’s a series of guided meditations which I’m describing as a self-care tool kit; you can choose an affirmation depending on how you’re feeling to help you tune into what you need. I’m also getting ready to start recording the next season of my podcast, Another Phase which I’m really excited about.

Which Daisy pieces are you drawn to as an Aries?

I love the Estée Lalonde Flat Snake Chain and mixing ’n’ matching the Estée Lalonde Goddess Glow Hoop Earrings, Stacked Rope Creole Hoop Earrings and the Stacked Beaded Eternity Hoop Earrings are my go-to’s at the moment.

What’s on your bedside table?

Crystals, OTO CBD Sleep drops, Form ZZZZs sleep supplements, a Tarot card, an Amethyst facial roller and a pile of books.

You have 5 mins to get ready, what do you wear?

My new favourite Levis jeans, trainers, t-shirt, leopard print coat, Flat Snake Chain necklace and gold hoop earrings.

When do you feel most yourself?

I feel most myself when I’m doing something that I love but my favourite version of myself is when I’m in Bali or Ibiza.

What can’t you leave the house without?

Hurraw! Lip Balm, it’s the best.
